Even though young people must be taught to overcome peer pressure, the truth is everyone encounters pressure. Learning to dealing with pressure properly takes prudence and skill.
Honestly, certain people and situations have a tendency to apply pressure to us. If we are not strong in particular areas the pressure can cause us to behave out of character or make detrimental decisions.
We must acknowledge the pressure points in our life and strengthen them. How can we strengthen these areas? There are a few methods that have been successful for me.
- The Word of God. The Word is the most powerful tool we possess and it can defeat any enemy. It is tried and true! If we take time to use the Scripture in a pressure situation we will be victorious every time. Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
- Boldness. Oftentimes pressure causes people to turn coat. We must be bold in pressure situations. God gives us boldness to say and do what is necessary to be more than a conqueror. Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.
- Endurance. Sometimes the Lord does not remove the pressure, we simply must persevere and cheerfully endure it. 2 Timothy 2:3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Don’t allow the pressures of life and people to break you. It’s a part of life. But though pressure comes we can overcome it.
