A Personal Pep Rally

I remember back in high school when we had pep rallyies.  Thousands of students would gather in the gym to cheer on the football and basketball teams or the upcoming seasons.

We were turned all the way up!  Dancing, shouting, and throwing confetti everywhere.  And the best part was this type behavior was allowed and accepted by the faculty.  They didn’t say a word.  In fact, some of the teachers would join in the celebration.

Wether the teams won or lost we were always thrilled and celebratory in spirit.

Amazingly, once graduation happens you learn that organized pep rallies cease.  I mean they happen at sporting events, birthdays, and even at many churches (during praise and worship service).  But, I have learned you must have your own personal pep rallies.

No one will attend, but you!  No football band.  No team or classmates.  Just you!  Before, during, and after the battles of life personal pep rallies are mandatory!  Psalm 33:1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.

The Bible says it like this in 1 Samuel 30:6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened (encouraged) himself in the Lord his God.

  • When you need to pick-me-up, encourage yourself in the Lord.
  • When you get bad news, encourage yourself in the Lord.
  • When life is not unfolding the way you planned, encourage yourself in the Lord.
  • When you feel lonely and unappreciated, encourage yourself in the Lord.

Don’t wait on someone else to stir you, stir yourself.  Have a personal pep rally where you are in life and watch the joy of the Lord be your strength!
