There are seasons in life where things seem barren. Though you may be in the will of God, things seem to be unraveling in your life. In such times you can experience loneliness, hardship, and despair. It is like a dry heat in the desert with no moisture to refresh a longing thirst. In seasons like this we must remain steadfast and hope in the God of our salvation. Psalm 119:166 Lord, I hope for Your salvation, And I do Your commandments.
Seasons change. Hardships don’t endure forever. Though the days are long and the nights are turbulent and troublesome, the storms in life will cease. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
Though giving up is always an alternative we must resist the urge to fold and quit. With the strength that remains we must expect the Lord to do great things in the midst of it all. Psalm 62:5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
God is faithful. God cannot lie. Because His eye is on the righteous we must know that He will stand by His Word. So expect great things! 1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
4 ways to have great expectations:
- Expect things to work out for your good. Roman 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
- Expect God to bless you for living by faith. Psalm 5:12 For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
- Give God praise and expect Him to do more than you expect! Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
- Preach to yourself and demons that speak lies, doubt, and discouragement! Your ending will be better than your beginning! Ecclesiastes 7:8 The end of a thing is better than its beginning; The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
