Sometimes it seems like lying is the best alternative in a tight situation. But lying is a devilish trait that the people of God should not exemplify. John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Thankfully, God can deliver a person from lying. Psalm 120:2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue. But we must also strive not to practice such behavior.
One reason I strive not to lie anymore to myself or to others is because I understand that God hates lying lips! Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight.
Make it your business not to have lying lips.
